Have you tried adding colour to a hot-foiled image? 🦋
For this card, I combined the Butterfly Flight Hot Foil Dies with the coordinating masks to create these beautiful pink butterflies. I love how the layers of colour bring the wings to life!
The butterflies are the stars of the show, but there are a few other details to enjoy too. I paired them with a foiled polka-dot background, a decorative frame and the lovely sentiment, “Consider yourself hugged.” 🤗
Adding colour with the Butterfly Flight masks
The coordinating masks make it easy to add colour to different sections of the butterflies. I used shades of pink and built up the colour in layers, then die-cut the butterflies ready to add to my card.
A little tip: try adding your colour before die-cutting the butterflies. Having the larger piece of cardstock to work with makes it easier to line up and hold the masks in place.
Of course, you can choose your own colour combination! Imagine these butterflies in purples, blues or even a combination of several colours. 💕
A little hot-foiling tip
Be careful where you place your washi tape when holding a die in position over a foiled image. During my crafting session, some of the foil and cardstock lifted when I removed the tape. It was one of those “oops” moments, but I found a way to work around it and still use my butterfly!
It’s a good reminder that handmade cards don’t have to be perfect. Sometimes a little creative problem-solving is all you need. 😊
Make the most of your foil
One of the things I loved exploring during this session was using the remaining foil to create a reverse image. It’s a wonderful way to get more from a piece of foil and create another background for a future project.
