I love a kit that gives you beautiful cards to send and a technique you can use again. The Shaded Petals Kit from the Stampin’ Up! Kits Collection does both! 🌸
You start with precut petals, add soft shaded colour with Sponge Daubers, then layer the pieces to create the flowers. It’s such a lovely way to enjoy a little ink blending without having to cut out every petal yourself.
And there’s a bonus: this kit is on the Last Chance list and discounted to $41.40 AUD, down from $46.00, at the time of writing. If it’s caught your eye, now is a good time to check availability.
Three floral designs, nine cards to send
The Shaded Petals Kit makes nine cards, with three each of three designs. The colour palette combines Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Highland Heather and gold.
The finished cards measure 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" (10.8 x 14 cm) when folded, and the kit includes nine printed envelopes to coordinate with your creations.
Each design has its own look, but the layered flowers and gold details bring the collection together beautifully.
A cheerful floral thank you
The yellow-bordered card features a little gathering of yellow and coral flowers, framed by a white scalloped oval. Gold flower centres and a gold “Thank you” sentiment add shine, while the white background gives the flowers plenty of room to stand out.
I love how the different flower sizes work together here. You can enjoy the detail in each bloom without needing a complicated arrangement.
Soft shading with Sponge Daubers
One of the best parts of this kit is adding the shaded colour yourself. The included Calypso Coral and Highland Heather Stampin’ Spots and Sponge Daubers let you explore how a little ink changes the look of the petals.
TIP➜ Start with a light amount of ink and build the colour gradually. You can always add more, and keeping some areas lighter helps the shading show.
The coral “Sending bunches of love” card is a lovely example of the layered effect. Pale outer petals sit behind stronger coral colour, with green stems and leaves against a soft pink background.
Layered petals and a little gold
The Highland Heather design brings together purple and softly shaded coral flowers, green leaves and a white scalloped frame. The gold “Thankful for you” sentiment gives it a thoughtful finishing touch.
Layering the precut petals gives the flowers dimension. The shading adds another sense of depth, so the technique and the construction work together.
That’s something you can carry into other projects too. Try adding soft colour to a plain flower die-cut, then layer it with another petal shape and see how the result changes.
