If we love our paper, we need to chop it! ✂️ Today’s card is a bright, cheerful reminder that beautiful patterned paper deserves to become something we can send.
I used Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper, layered circles and a bold “Hey, have a fabulous day” greeting. It’s a fun, fresh design that would be great for a teenager, or anyone who enjoys a bit of colour!
Love It, Chop It with Beautiful Ordinary Life paper
This paper has been in our craft room for a while, and I still love how versatile it is. For this card, I paired the colourful striped design with a smaller geometric print down the centre.
A narrow Basic Black border around the centre panel separates the two patterns. The black card base repeats that contrast around the outside, giving all those happy colours a clear frame.
TIP➜ Try pairing a busy pattern with a smaller coordinating print, then keep your sentiment simple so it stands out. You don’t need lots of extras when the paper has this much personality!
Three circles, three happy colours
The original plan changed during the live session, and we ended up with circles. I used the Spotlight on Nature Dies to create three different decorative edges, then overlapped the circles across the front.
Flirty Flamingo, Lemon Lolly and Pool Party pick up colours from the paper. The different sizes help each circle show, while Stampin’ Dimensionals lift selected pieces so the arrangement has depth.
Before adding adhesive, move your shapes around and check how much of each one is visible. Leave room for the sentiment and let some of that lovely paper show through too.
Little stamped details make a difference
I added small accents from the Beautiful Ordinary Life Stamp Set, including hearts, arches, scallops and an arrow. White heat embossing makes those details stand out against the coloured cardstock.
For a quieter detail, I also used VersaMark on its own to create a subtle tone-on-tone effect. You can mix the two approaches so some accents catch your eye while others sit softly in the background.
There’s no need to fill every space. A small section of a stamp, placed off-centre or partly hidden behind another circle, can add just enough detail.
A bold greeting and the finishing touches
The white-embossed “Hey” on Basic Black cardstock gives the card a strong focal point. On the Pool Party circle, the black-embossed “Have a fabulous day” greeting ties in with the borders and base.
I compared a few sentiment options during the video before choosing the black. Sometimes you need to see the alternatives next to each other to know which one works best!
Pink and yellow embellishments repeat the colours of the circles. I moved them around until the arrangement felt balanced, looking for little groupings that drew the pieces together.
Inside the card, I used coordinating paper offcuts, including a scalloped detail backed with Basic Black so the edge was easier to see. Those smaller pieces are worth keeping nearby while you craft.

Turn a favourite paper into a card
This layout is easy to adapt with papers and colours you already have. Choose two coordinating prints, add a few overlapping shapes and finish with a message you’d like to send.
And once you’ve used some paper, there’s room for more... just saying. 😉
