Sometimes, the best ideas come from looking at a stamp set a little differently.

When I sat down to create this card with the Framed Violets Bundle, my original plan was to colour the flowers. But as I looked at the stamped image, I wondered what would happen if I coloured the background instead. The result was a bold, dramatic design that completely changed the look of the stamp and quickly became one of my favourite techniques.

It's amazing how one small change can give your stamps a completely different personality.

A Simple Technique with Big Results

To create the background, I repeatedly stamped the floral image from the Framed Violets Stamp Set onto Basic White Cardstock using Secret Sea ink.

Instead of reaching for my colouring tools to colour the flowers, I used a Secret Sea Stampin' Blend to colour everything around them. Leaving the flowers white allows them to stand out beautifully against the dark background, creating lots of contrast without needing lots of different colours.

Sometimes the simplest techniques produce the biggest impact, and this is definitely one I'll be using again.

Creating the Focal Point

For the centrepiece, I used one of the elegant oval dies from the Violet Dreams Dies. Before adding the sentiment, I stamped one of the coordinating background images twice using Secret Sea ink to add a little extra texture.

The floral images were stamped onto Crumb Cake Cardstock, coloured with Crumb Cake and Lost Lagoon Stampin' Blends, then die cut with the coordinating dies before being layered around the sentiment.

The softer neutral tones balance the bold background beautifully, creating a card that feels elegant while still being easy to recreate.
