Sometimes, the most beautiful cards don't need lots of stamping or complicated techniques. When you start with gorgeous Designer Series Paper, it really can do all the hard work for you.

For this project, I wanted to showcase the stunning floral designs in the Violet Dreams Designer Series Paper. By combining elegant layers, soft ribbon and a heat embossed sentiment, the result is a card that's simple to create but full of beautiful detail.

Let the Designer Series Paper Shine

I began with a Secret Sea card base before adding a layer of Stunning Shimmering Stripes Specialty Designer Series Paper. The subtle shimmer creates a beautiful foundation while adding texture and interest to the card.

For the focal panel, I layered a slightly smaller piece of Secret Sea cardstock with one of the gorgeous floral patterns from the Violet Dreams Designer Series Paper. The rich colours and detailed artwork make it easy to create an elegant card without needing lots of extra embellishment.

Adding Texture and Dimension

Before attaching the floral panel to the card, I wrapped it with Fresh Freesia ¼" Satin Ribbon and tied a simple bow. This soft touch of ribbon complements the floral design beautifully while adding another layer of texture.

I then adhered the panel to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals, giving the focal piece extra depth and helping it stand out against the shimmering background.

Creating the Heat Embossed Sentiment

The Sending Love sentiment was stamped onto Secret Sea cardstock using VersaMark ink before being covered with White Emboss Powder and heat embossed. Once cooled, I carefully fussy cut around the sentiment, leaving a narrow Secret Sea border, and attached it with Dimensionals.

Heat embossing is one of my favourite ways to make a sentiment stand out. The crisp white finish creates beautiful contrast against the dark cardstock and adds a polished look to the finished project.

The Finishing Touches

To complete the card, I added a few Adhesive-Backed Blooms across the floral panel. These small embellishments provide just the right amount of sparkle and help tie all of the colours together.

This project is a wonderful reminder that sometimes less really is more. Beautiful papers, a coordinating ribbon, a striking sentiment and a handful of embellishments are all you need to create an elegant handmade card.
