Sometimes the most effective designs are also the simplest. Today’s project is one of those cards that came together quickly but still has so much elegance thanks to the beautiful Painterly Pears Suite.
The Design: Layers with Texture
I started with a Mossy Meadow card base, then added another layer of Mossy Meadow embossed with the brand-new Gathering Leaves Embossing Folder. This folder is absolutely stunning—it adds such rich detail and texture that immediately elevates the card.
Building the Layers
On top of that, I added a clean layer of Basic White to frame everything. Over this, I placed two different patterns of Designer Series Paper, both featuring the lovely Darling Duckling colour. These papers coordinate perfectly, and layering them together gives a fresh, stylish look without being fussy.
Adding the Focal Point
For the focal point, I turned again to the gorgeous Painterly Pears DSP. I cut out a few pears with the coordinating dies and arranged them neatly on the card front. If you’d rather stamp and colour your pears, that works just as well—the suite is so versatile!
The Finishing Touch
A simple sentiment was all this layout needed to bring everything together. With all the texture and colour happening on the card, keeping the sentiment clean helped balance the design beautifully.
Why I Love This Project
This card really proves that simple doesn’t mean plain. By combining embossed texture, well-chosen layers of patterned paper, and just a few focal images, you can create a design that feels both classy and effortless. It’s the kind of card you’ll want to make over and over again in different colours and themes.
Would you give this quick and classy layout a try? I’d love to know what colours and papers you’d choose!
