TGCDT: June 2020 - In Good Taste

Hi There and thanks so much for stopping by today. Its Bruno here im participating in the monthly design team blog hop for TGCDT - The Gentleman Crafters Design Team (all of the members are from around the world and are ..... MALE!)

I had a lot of fun making todays project (well, collection of projects).

When I first saw the catalogue, this suite of projects caught my attention immediately! In Good Taste uses some amazing colours, patterns and textures. Have you seen them? Click here to look at the full suite of products in more detail.

Here is the project;

As you can see, I used some products from other suites too - but the main focus is on the In Good Taste Suite.

I used the new mini paper pumpkin boxes and decorated them with some of the beautiful patterned paper. I used the Peony dies to make a Peony in the colours of this suite (Basic Grey, Smoky Slate, Grey Granite and Very Vanilla). Have you tried these dies yet? Kylie made a video showing how to put them together - it is HEAPS easier than it looks. I adhered the Peony with dimensionals and added some of the wooden In Good Taste elements.

For the sentiment, I stamped onto a piece of Smoky Slate (this sentiment is from the Tasteful Touches stamp set) and cut out with the PERFECT die from the Tasteful Labels die collection. I added some faux suede ribbon (from the World of Good Suite) and adhered the sentiment using dimensionals. I added a few more wooden elements and that was the outside of the box decorated. What about inside?

I added some more of the same paper to the inside lid (i ran the paper in the opposite direction). And, as you can see - I made some cards! Here is the SUPER cool thing about these Mini-Paper Pumpkin boxes - the PERFECTLY fit the Note Cards and Envelopes. These are available in Whisper White and Very Vanilla (in hindsight, if I were making this project again, I would use Very Vanilla).

To keep the cards together, I made a simple belly-band. Its a strip of Smoky Slate with some stamping in Early Espresso using a cool image from the stamp set and then decorated with some more wooden elements.

I made four cards for this pack. For the four cards, I wanted to start with a 'simple stamping' card and then each additional card would be 'stepped-up' a little more, but based on the same basic design.

Here is Card 1

The sentiment is stamped in Basic Grey, the pattern is stamped in Early Espresso and the branches are stamped in Smoky Slate (envelopes are stamped in the same colour). This is SUPER simple. Its literally stamp, ink and cardstock (and the cardstock is pre-cut and pre-scored).

Here is Card 2 - Stepped up a little

In terms of stamping, this is the same card, however, instead of stamping on the card base, I stamped on a piece of cardstock. I also stamped the sentiment on another piece of cardstock and cut out using a coordinating die from the collection.

Here is Card 3 - Stepped up a little MORE

In terms of stamping, this is the same as Card 2. However, after stamping, I ran it through the embossing machine using the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder (this is HOT). For the sentiment, I used the same die to cut out, but I added an Early Espresso piece cut out using a die from the same collection.

Here is Card 4 - Stepped up EVEN MORE than Card 3

I added a piece of Early Espresso the same size as the note card. In terms of stamping and embossing, this is the same as card 3. I cut out a piece using a die from the collection and added a piece of the patterned paper inside that cut out. I then adhered the stamped piece using dimensionals.

For the sentiment, I used white embossing powder on a piece of Early Espresso and cut out using a die from the collection and adhered using dimensionals.

Finally, I added the wooden element pieces for a nice accent.

I loved making all of the elements of this project and hope you enjoyed it too!

  1. Hello Bruno,
You designed a great box with very nice cards. I really like making the peony only in shades of gray.
I look forward to our joint TGCDT BlogHops from July.
    Greetings from Leipzig.
