Take time to remember your Family

My gorgeous nephews Peter and Chris got their dinosaur cards - my sister said they loved them and sent me this picture. How adorable are they? I mean I am totally biased but the are adorable. If you didn't see my dinosaur picture you can Click Here to check it out.

My Dad has had a major operation on his heart early this month - he is doing great which is such a relief! He had a double bypass, double myectomy (part of his heart cut out), pacemaker change and an aortic valve repair. Crazy hey? Like how amazing are doctors to be able to do that?

Here he is giving a thumbs up that all is doing great.

A few days afterwards he was up and out of bed - so amazing.

The next step now is to get a new kidney.. But happy that he is out of ICU and doing so well. Good on you Dad!

Here is a card that I made him -I didn't want to use get well soon - so generic for something so much more than what this situation calls for. So I choose the High Five sentiment from the That Thing you Did Stamp set.

The paper was from the Farmers Market Designer Series Paper. I know right? Are you surprised? How perfect is that for a masculine card?

Feel free to pin the card below for colour inspiration ideas.

Tips and Techniques:
(In Australia we use metric measurements)

This card was layered in the Soft Suede I cut the A4 cardstock at 10.5cm to make a top hinged card.
The next layer is Very Vanilla and cut at 9.8cm x 14.2cm
The next layer is the Early Espresso and cut at 9.5cm x 13.9cm
I then cut a piece of the Farmers Market DSP at 6.5cm x 11.5cm and made a Basic Black mat for it at 6.8cm x 11.8cm (3mm more) I made sure the arrows were point up - significant of my dads health improving and things being positive.
The strip behind is a basic black piece of cardstock cut at 2.5cm x 9.5cm and the strip of paper is 1.5cm x 9.5cm.
I used the circle thinlits dies to cut out the sentiment - I used the fourth largest circle (excluded the scallop circle) I found that it was a tiny bit too small - but I made it work as the next size circle was way too big. I really wanted to have another layer behind but instead I sponged the edges lightly with some basic grey ink.
