Soft colour, rich copper embossing and just a whisper of Blackberry Bliss — this card came together beautifully.

This is the first of two projects I made using the large floral image from the Inked Florets stamp set. I wanted to see how different the same image could look simply by changing the colours and the way I added the detail.

For this first card, I kept things very soft with Bubble Bath cardstock and let the copper heat embossing become the feature.

Creating the Copper Embossed Image

I started with a Bubble Bath card base, then cut another piece of Bubble Bath cardstock for the front layer.

The Inked Florets floral stamp is quite large, so I used the Stampin’ Position Tool to stamp it onto the Bubble Bath layer with Versamark. The positioning tool made it so much easier to work with such a large image and get the stamped impression where I wanted it.

I covered the Versamark image with Copper Metallics WOW embossing powder and then heat set it with my heat tool.

The copper embossing against the soft Bubble Bath cardstock looks spectacular. I love how the metallic finish gives the large floral image plenty of detail without needing lots of additional colour.

Adding a Hint of Blackberry Bliss

I did want to bring a little extra depth into the flower, but I didn’t want to lose the softness of the card.

Using a sponge dauber, I added Blackberry Bliss ink very, very lightly inside the flower. This wasn’t about completely colouring the image. It was just enough ink to give the flower some gentle shading and draw your eye towards it.

I also used a sponge dauber to very lightly add Bubble Bath ink around the outside edge of the Bubble Bath layer.

Using Bubble Bath ink on the matching cardstock gave me a subtle tone-on-tone effect rather than a strong border. Once I was happy with the sponging, I adhered the layer to the front of the card.

A Simple Sentiment to Finish the Card

For the sentiment, I chose “You’re an Amazing Friend” from the Fern and Flora stamp set.

Rather than putting the sentiment onto another large layer, I fussy cut around it. I then adhered it to the card front with Mini Dimensionals, giving it just a little lift from the embossed background.

And that was all this card needed.

I really like the combination of Bubble Bath, copper and that very small amount of Blackberry Bliss. There’s plenty happening in the large floral image, but keeping the colours restrained lets the beautiful copper embossing do most of the work.

One Stamp, Two Very Different Looks

This was actually the first of two cards I made with the Inked Florets floral image.

For my second project, I kept the copper embossing but changed the colour combination completely. Instead of soft Bubble Bath, I worked with Early Espresso and Cajun Craze and added Designer Series Paper as well.

It’s a great reminder that you don’t always need a completely different design when you sit down to create. Sometimes changing the cardstock, colouring and a few details is enough to give the same stamped image a completely different personality.
