Same beautiful floral stamp, completely different feel — this time I went bold with Cajun Craze, Early Espresso and copper embossing.

In my previous Inked Florets project, I paired the large floral image with soft Bubble Bath cardstock, a little Blackberry Bliss ink and copper heat embossing.

For this second card, I wanted to see just how different that same floral stamp could look with a much richer colour combination.

Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and copper turned out to be a lovely combination, and the patterned paper adds another layer of interest without taking attention away from the flower.

Starting with Early Espresso and Designer Series Paper

I began with an Early Espresso card base.

For the card front, I chose a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper. The design I used has plenty of Cajun Craze in it along with a grid pattern that I really like.

I cut the Designer Series Paper to exactly the size of the card front and adhered it directly to the Early Espresso base.

This gave me a patterned background straight away and helped establish the warm colour palette for the rest of the card.

Copper Embossing the Inked Florets Flower

Next, I took a piece of Basic White cardstock and stamped the large flower from the Inked Florets stamp set using Versamark ink.

I covered the stamped image with Copper Metallics WOW embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool.

I used the same copper embossing powder on my first Inked Florets card, but against Basic White cardstock it gives the image a very different starting point.

The embossed outline also gave me a beautiful defined edge around the flower before I added the colour.

Colouring with Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends

To colour the flower, I used both the Light and Dark Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends.

Using the two shades allowed me to build some variation through the petals while keeping the colour scheme simple.

Once I had finished colouring, I fussy cut around the entire floral image.

I then adhered the flower to the card front using Dimensionals, lifting it away from the patterned background and making it the main feature of the card.

White Embossing on Early Espresso

For the sentiment, I chose “Sending Love” from the Framed Violets stamp set.

I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock using Versamark ink, then covered it with white embossing powder from the Basics WOW Embossing Powder pack.

After heat setting it with my heat tool, the white embossing really stood out against the dark Early Espresso cardstock.

I cut out the sentiment and adhered it to the front of the card to finish the project.

One Floral Stamp, Two Colour Combinations

I enjoyed using the same Inked Florets floral image across these two cards because it shows how much the choice of colour can change the look of a stamp.

My first card was soft and delicate with Bubble Bath, Blackberry Bliss and copper. This version is much richer, with Cajun Craze, Early Espresso and the patterned background.

The copper embossing is the detail that connects the two projects, but each card has its own completely different look.

It’s a good reminder that when you find a stamp you enjoy using, you don’t necessarily need to reinvent the whole design each time. A different colour palette, background or colouring technique can be enough to take the same image in a new direction.
