This cheerful Fun in the Sun card started as a simple project showcasing the Summer Happiness Bundle and coordinating Summer Happiness Washi Tape, but it finished with an unexpected design feature that quickly became my favourite part of the card.

I love it when creativity surprises you!

A Card Full of Summer Happiness

The Summer Happiness Bundle is packed with playful hand-drawn images that instantly make you think of sunny holidays, warm afternoons and relaxing summer days. From cameras and sunglasses to pineapples, flowers and thongs, every image brings a little fun to your projects.

For this card, I started with a Coastal Cabana card base and a layer of Basic White.

Instead of stamping all of the images individually, I applied a strip of the coordinating Summer Happiness Washi Tape to Basic White cardstock before using the matching dies to cut out the sunshine, camera, drink bottle, sunglasses, pineapple, flip-flops and flower.

Using the coordinating dies with the washi tape makes creating colourful embellishments so quick and easy—no fussy cutting required!

Adding a Little Extra Depth

As I arranged the die-cut pieces onto the Basic White layer, I felt the design needed just a little something extra.

I reached for the coordinating stamps and stamped each image in Basic Beige, creating a soft shadow behind each die-cut element. It's a simple technique that adds depth without distracting from the colourful images.

Once I was happy with the layout, I adhered the die cuts using Stampin' Dimensionals before stamping the Fun in the Sun sentiment in Strawberry Slush.

The Happy Accident

Then came the unexpected part!

As I was getting ready to attach the completed panel to the card base, it shifted slightly and ended up sitting on an angle.

Normally, I would have lined everything up perfectly straight, but something made me stop.

I realised I actually preferred it!

So instead of fixing my "mistake", I attached the panel exactly as it was, popping it up with Dimensionals to create even more interest.

I think the angled panel gives the card a fun, playful feel that suits the cheerful summer theme perfectly.

It's a lovely reminder that sometimes our best creative ideas happen when things don't quite go to plan.
