Moonlit Flora Series Part 1: Simple Cards That Let the Paper Shine

Welcome to Part 1 of my three-part Moonlit Flora series!

Over this series, I'll be sharing six cards that all use the beautiful Moonlit Flora Suite Collection. My goal is to show how one suite can create projects for every style of crafter, whether you love quick and simple cards or enjoy adding extra layers and techniques.

We're starting with my favourite kind of project... simple, effective cards that let the Designer Series Paper do most of the work. These first two cards are created in my Love It, Chop It style, proving that you don't need lots of layers or complicated techniques to make something you'll be proud to send.

Let the Designer Series Paper Shine

The Moonlit Flora Designer Series Paper is so beautiful that it really doesn't need much added to it. The detailed botanical designs and soft nature-inspired imagery become the focal point with very little effort.

For both cards, I started with a coloured card base, using Old Olive for one card and the gorgeous new Peaceful Pine In Color for the other. I trimmed the Designer Series Paper to leave a narrow border around the edge, allowing the card base to frame the design.

I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black onto coordinating cardstock, then cut it out using one of the dies from the Fern & Flora Dies. A few Dew Drops embellishments from the suite finished each card beautifully.

On the Luna Moth card, I also added a touch of Wink of Stella to the moth for a subtle shimmer that catches the light without overwhelming the design.

Card One

This design showcases the stunning Luna Moth against the rich botanical background. With so much detail already in the paper, the only real additions are the sentiment and a few embellishments. Sometimes the simplest cards have the biggest impact.

Card Two

The second card uses another sheet from the Designer Series Paper, featuring lush greenery and delicate flowers. Again, the paper does all the heavy lifting, while the sentiment and embellishments provide just enough finishing detail.

Why I Love This Style

Not every crafting session needs to involve lots of stamping, colouring or fancy techniques. These are the kinds of cards I reach for when time is short or when I simply want to enjoy creating without overthinking the design.

They're also a wonderful reminder that beautiful Designer Series Paper is made to be enjoyed, not hidden away in a cupboard waiting for the perfect project.

Coming Up in Part 2

In the next part of this series, I'll be using the same Love It, Chop It philosophy but stepping things up slightly. We'll add a few extra layers to create more visual interest while keeping the layouts easy to recreate.
