How to Colour with In Color Shimmer Brush | Stampin’ Up!® Cardmaking Technique

Today I’m sharing a fun and simple cardmaking technique showing how to colour with a Colour Shimmer Brush to add soft colour, sparkle, and detail to your handmade cards.

For these projects, I’m using the beautiful Artisan Sketched Designer Series Paper together with the Phrases & Frames set from Stampin’ Up!®. The sketched images in the paper are perfect for adding a little extra colour, and the shimmer brush gives the designs such a pretty finish.

How to Use a Colour Shimmer Brush on Designer Series Paper

One of the things I love about using a Colour Shimmer Brush is that it can add both colour and sparkle at the same time. Instead of leaving the Designer Series Paper as it is, you can highlight areas, add soft shading, or bring certain images forward with a little shimmer.

This is a great technique if you want to make your DSP look more detailed without needing to do a lot of extra stamping.

Colouring Technique Ideas for Handmade Cards

Here are a few simple ideas you can try:

  • Add shimmer to small areas of the Designer Series Paper

  • Use the shimmer brush with some water to create watercolour feel

  • Highlight flowers, leaves, or sketched details

  • Add soft colour around the edges of your images

  • Use the wink of Stella to add more shimmer if you like
