This project builds a warm, detailed bookcase scene using the On Display bundle, starting with a Darling Duckling card base. The background of the cupboard is a piece of Country Woods paper, which gives that soft, rustic look that works so well with the theme.
Creating the Bookcase
The bookcase was cut from Pecan Pie cardstock. To give it depth, several additional cuts were made from Basic White and layered behind the main piece. Stacking the layers adds a sturdy, dimensional feel and really makes the bookcase stand out.
Adding the Details
Once the bookcase was assembled, the fun part began.
- The books were cut from Basic White, then coloured with Stampin’ Blends to add shading and variation.
- The canister, bottle, and plant were cut from coloured cardstock, with Blends added along the edges for extra texture.
- A simple sentiment was stamped on Basic White and added to the card front.
Why This Project Works
Even though it looks detailed, the process is straightforward thanks to the well designed stamps and dies. Building the layers, adding little bits of shading, and assembling the shelves all come together to create a scene that feels cosy and full of character.
If you try your own version, it can be fun to switch up the colours of the books or choose a different DSP for the back panel.
