Layered Florals That Speak From the Heart

This project was such a joy to make, and it reminded me why I love playing with layers and textures! I began with a thick Basic White card base to give the card a sturdy foundation. On top, I added a layer of Darling Duckling followed by a Crumb Cake stamped panel. I stamped a group of flowers repeatedly across the entire Crumb Cake piece, creating a soft, tonal background that gives the card a gentle, textured look.

For the focal point, I used a separate piece of Basic White and stamped the flowers and vase. I coloured them with Stampin’ Blends, adding shading and depth to really make the blooms come alive. Then I cut them out with the coordinating die. One of my favourite finishing touches was brushing Crumb Cake around the edges of the die-cut piece—it gives a subtle, shadowed effect that makes the elements feel dimensional and lifted from the card.

To tie it all together, I used a scrap piece of cardstock that had the same repeated stamping and stamped the sentiment “You get me & I appreciate that” in Tuxedo Black. Adding it as a strip on the card brought balance and a heartfelt message that really completes the design. This layered, textured card is playful, warm, and perfect for someone who truly understands you. It’s a project that shows how a few simple techniques—repetitive stamping, die-cut layering, and thoughtful colouring—can transform a card into a meaningful keepsake.
