Peony | Love and Thanks to a Dear Friend

The first time I saw a sample made using this die in the catalogue, I had no idea how it worked. Was it a die/embossing folder? How on earth? And, then, I saw the die collection and was absolutely befuddled! How do all of these random pieces make a flower? And, then Kylie showed me how to use it and it couldn't be more simple!

I used the die on a project last week and then as I was scrolling Instagram, our friend Isabella posted a foodie picture that made me think 'I should try using the Peony dies like this.' Here is the picture I saw;

 It was the flowers that I drew inspiration from and here is the project I created;

I started with a Thick Whisper White card base. I really wanted the flower to be the focus, so advise from the flower, white is the only colour I used.

The flower is cut out using the dies in Melon Mambo. After cutting each of the pieces out, I used the sponge dauber with White Kraft ink (paint) and lightly applied the ink.

The leaves were cut out using Shaded Spruce. For the highlight parts of the leaves, this is using DSP from the Regals colour stack (in Shaded Spruce also).

Behind the flower, I added a piece of Whisper White card stock which has been run through the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder. In addition to this, I used a die from the Hippo and Friends die collection and cut out the piece using Vellum. I also added some clear Elegant Faceted Gems.

The sentiment is from the Prized Peony stamp set. I stamped it using Melon Mambo onto a piece of Whisper White.

Seriously, this is a SUPER cool collection of products! If you don't already have it - you are going to LOVE it!
